You send the perfect cold email. You get the response… now what?

Just like in an in person conversation, you want to reflect the writing style of the other person and you want to deflect negative emotions.

This means matching their:

  • Formality

  • Complexity (length + sentence structure)

  • And elevating their positive emotions

You wouldn’t respond to a formal, long email with a short casual note. Just like you wouldn’t respond to a casual one-liner with “dear” or “sincerely”.

Mirroring is a highly effective skill for building rapport. Being able to do this digitally is a persuasive superpower.
