Most email clients will display the first few sentences of your writing to entice the reader to open.

Preview Text: Use this as an opportunity to stand out. What keywords or names are going to catch their attention? When in doubt: Get straight to the point.

Using the names of colleagues or mutual connections can be a great way to maximize the chance of catching their attention.

Some email-sending tools allow you to differentiate your preview text from the first few lines of the email. Don't do this. It creates a jarring experience for the reader. Instead, you can create an experience that flows from the first line to the end of the email.
Keeping subject lines short maximizes the amount of preview text shown.
